WHS regulation to manage workplace psychosocial hazards, in the same way that we manage other hazards, led Tasmanian Bakeries to review and reflect on how to integrate psychosocial risk management within their Safety Management System.
Discovery sessions with the leadership team provided baseline information and an understanding of the people and business drivers operating. Many workers come from language backgrounds other than English.
Injury prevention through WHS Risk Management and Primary Prevention – fixing risk before harm – is the focus of our project.

98% completion rate
Modified answer format using emojis
Digital survey tool
Two worker groups – Office and Bakery – representing broadly different job-types
One-page report was produced, identifying hazards for each worker group.

Risk Management Teams presented their Action Plans to their CEO. These Action Plans were signed off in full, with appreciation for the Risk Management Teams.
30 Actions are fully supported for 19 hazards identified.
Risk Management Teams meet periodically throughout the cycle, to close off actions and review progress as each Action is rolled out.
Building Job Resources – increasing worker input
Job Design – redesigning tasks to control musculoskeletal hazards
Psychosocial factors – promoting equity, diversity, more opportunities for learning, development and job progression.
